Laser handpiece applied to a leg

Alexandrite laser hair removal

755 nm, the standard in permanent hair reduction thanks to its affinity with melanin. With a prior patch test and settings adjusted to your skin type and each area.

  • 15–60 min depending on area
  • Patch test beforehand
  • 6–8 sessions on average

How it works

The laser only sees hair that is actively growing

The light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair and destroys the follicle with heat. But it only works on hair in its growth phase, and at any given moment only part of it is. That is why several spaced sessions are needed: it is not that the first one “did nothing”.

The number of sessions depends on the area, the thickness of the hair and your hormonal situation. The estimate is made at the assessment and reviewed halfway through.

Areas

  • Face
  • Underarms
  • Bikini

  • Legs

Before your session

Four rules that are not negotiable

Skipping any of them reduces the result or increases the risk of burns. They are repeated when each appointment is confirmed.

Shave, do not pull

The area must arrive shaved 24 hours beforehand. No waxing, tweezing or hair removal cream in the four weeks before: the laser needs the root intact.

24 h before

No sun, no fake tan

No direct sun exposure or sunbeds in the two weeks before or after. Tanned skin absorbs the light and can burn.

2 weeks before and after

Clean skin

No creams, deodorant or make-up on the day of the session. Any residue changes how the pulse behaves on the skin.

On the day

Tell us about your medication

Some medicines cause photosensitivity and mean waiting. Also let us know about pregnancy, tattoos in the area or ongoing dermatological treatment.

At the assessment

What the plan looks like

We never treat on the first visit

First we assess your skin type and do a patch test. That is what prevents problems.

  1. Assessment and skin type

Skin type, hair colour and thickness, medication and history. The machine settings come from this.

  2. Patch test

A few pulses on a discreet area and a 48-hour wait to see how your skin reacts before treating the full area.

  3. Sessions every 4 to 8 weeks

The interval depends on the area: shorter on the face, longer on legs and back. Adjusted to how the hair regrows.

  4. Maintenance

Once the plan is complete, one or two sessions a year is usually enough. Hormonal areas may need a little more, and we say so from the start.

Frequently asked

What people usually ask

Question not here? Message us on WhatsApp (opens in a new window) and we will answer, no strings attached.

Does it hurt?

It feels like a hot snap. The machine has a cooling system and most people describe it as uncomfortable but manageable. Areas with thicker hair, such as the bikini line or underarms, are felt more.

Does it work on blonde, grey or red hair?

No. The laser needs melanin, so it does not act on hair without pigment. We tell you at the assessment before you pay anything.

Can it be done in summer?

Yes, as long as you can keep the area out of direct sun for two weeks before and after. On legs during August that is rarely realistic, so we plan it for another time.

How many sessions will I need?

Six to eight on average, with a review halfway through. Hormonal areas such as the face may need more, plus maintenance afterwards.

What if I have a tattoo or a mole in the area?

They are covered and not treated. If the tattoo covers much of the area, that area cannot be treated.
